Nooitgedacht trout lodge

Description

These are properties (lodges or boutique hotels) offering superior service, cuisine, and accommodation and can be situated in either a wilderness or city environment. Whilst offering superior service, cuisine and accommodation, the marketing strategies for the grouping will however move away from hard attributes such as room size, to soft attributes such as image, exclusivity and guest experience. Psychographics rather than demographics form the basis of the experience at these destinations. This model is therefore based on combining the best attributes of “boutique hotels” and Game Lodges with a unique guest experience.

Only three hours east of Johannesburg lies the province of the rising sun, Mpumalanga and Nooitgedacht Trout Lodge - a place for refuelling, reviving, revitalising the soul. This luxury lodge nestles on a nature reserve in the heart of South Africa’s most captivating natural wilderness. A romantic getaway... a fly fishing paradise... an invigorating haven for a corporate brainstorm or strategy meeting... Nooitgedacht.

The Lodge offers some of the finest trout water in the country. Whether fishing the Spekboom River or in either of the three lakes, these waters are well stocked with trout to challenge the most astute Rainbow warrior and beginner alike. And there’s more... soaring eagles and Cape Vultures, a wealth of indigenous flora and prolific bird life, a store of game, ranging from leopard to kudu to otters and the reclusive brown hyena. So, if you’re fishing for ideas, if you’re chasing rainbows of your own, here’s a new angle, retreat into the mainstream at Nooitgedacht Trout Lodge.

Nooitgedacht Trout Lodge echoes the style of the original farm house built in 1845 by JJ Burger, secretary of the old Lydenburg Republic and captures the essence of country living at it’s best. Hearty home cooked fare is prepared by dedicated chefs in a traditional open-plan kitchen and served in the congenial dining hall, which is the centre point of country life at Nooitgedacht. The state of the art wine cellar is definitely worthy of a visit! Why not ask our chefs to prepare your catch of the day, fresh from the plentiful waters that have made Nooitgedacht Trout Lodge a famous home from home...

Catering for a maximum of ten guests, Nooitgedacht Trout Lodge provides comfortable, stylish accommodation in five en-suite bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms have open log fireplaces and all have electrical heating. Children of all ages are welcome and additional accommodation can be arranged for them. A place in the valley... The valley, redolent of history echoes... a time during the Gold Rush when miners staked their claim to the wealth of the land, the battle cries of Shaka’s Impis, and the ghosts of the Boer War. Guests have the use of a lounge, bar, library and heated swimming pool, at their disposal. Aside from the fly-fishing, activities include game-viewing, hiking, clay-pigeon shooting, horse-riding, 4 x 4 trails, tours of the hatchery, picnics in the mountains and sailing.
