Known as the ‘place of water’ the Nkomazi Game Reserve represents the true symbol of Africa – the real Africa with its vivid scenic beauty, dramatic landscapes, thunderstorms, rolling savannah, bushveld, wildlife, massive beasts, relaxed atmosphere and its fascinating cultural history. General
· Children under the age of 12 years are accommodated at selected lodges only
· Children from 12 years old are considered as adults and will therefore require a separate room at the applicable rate
· Children rates are
o applicable whether they share a room/suite with adults or not
o inclusive of accommodation, meals, selected beverages and activities (age dependant)
o subject to the availability of cots, mattresses and sleeper couches, depending on the property
· A maximum of two (2) children may share with two (2) adults in one room, depending on the availability of rooms with
sleeper couches
· 0 – 3 Year old are not permitted on game drive and may share with adults at no additional cost
· 4 – 11 Year old are permitted on game drive and may share with adults at 50% of the adult sharing rate, depending on
the availability of rooms with sleeper couches
· Child minding are done by lodge staff and can be arranged at an additional cost
Shamwari Game Reserve
· Persons under the age of 16 years are not permitted on any walking safaris
· Children under the age of 12 years are accommodated at Riverdene Lodge and Sarili Lodge only
· Children sharing with adults will be accommodated in a cot or on a sleeper couch, depending on their age and subject
to the availability of rooms with cots and sleeper couches (Riverdene Lodge ONLY)
Sanbona Wildlife Reserve
· Persons under the age of 16 years are not permitted on any walking safaris
· Children under the age of 12 years are accommodated at Gondwana Lodge only
· Children sharing with adults will be accommodated in a cot or on sleeper couch, depending on their age and subject to
the availability of rooms with cots and sleeper couches Accommodation The Komati Tented Lodge defines an ’Out of African’ styled tented accommodation with all five star amenities on offer. Guests will experience not only the quietness and solitude, but a sumptuous comfort that basks in the sense of the age-old life of Africa. The Komati Tented Lodge offers 11 Noble and one Royal Suite tents with a private setting and five star amenities. Each tent has an extra large king size bed, comfort cooling/heating and en-suite shower with an outdoor bath, and private expansive teak sun decks with a plunge pool.
Meandering pathways lead to the main tent where traditional fare can be enjoyed at your own leisure, while a treatment at the River Retreat will rejuvenate and relax - doing its small part to restore the delicate balance of all living things. Relax in comfort and African style among wildlife of diverse habitats along the clear streams of the Komati River.

Here guests can take part in a range of discoveries leading from one natural wonder to the next. Watch the sun rise over the North Eastern boundaries of the reserve during a morning game drive or take in the spectacular view from lookout points among the rocky granite sentinels in the highlands of the reserve. Waterfalls and rock pools are impressive, while rolling grasslands support large herds of free-roaming wildlife, making Nkomazi a game-viewing haven. And, when the sun sinks low in the Mountainlands, settle the day by returning to the luxury and opulence of the Komati Tented Lodge. Guests can take part in many exciting activities including game drives that can last up to three hours, nature walks, bird watching, star gazing and rock art viewing.
