Dullstroom was founded in 1889 on this farm, Grootsuikerbochkop, which was owned by the family of J H H Janson, who was the Administrator of the Nederduits Hervormde Church. P J S Janson, his son was born in 1919 and after the war he became a full time farmer. After his death this rich cultural heritage was inherited by his daughter, J H Janson.

Your Hosts, Hanlie and her husband, Jan Bette, have built luxurious, self catering units and a cottage for the enjoyment of trout fisherman and nature lovers.

Jocks Cottage is a double storey cottage offering accommodation to six people. Joe's Place was originally the dairy and cow shed and has been converted into four self catering units, each sleeping two people. There is a communal verandah with a beautiful view.

Fly Fishing and Other Activities

Guests in Jock's Cottage may trout fish in the farm dam. and guests in Joe's Place can fish in the Dullstroom Dam which is 500m from their doorstep.

Other activities that may be enjoyed on the farm are mountain biking, hiking, bird watching, or a leisurely walk into the village.

Jock's Cottage, named after Piet Jock the son of the original owner, is a double storey cottage built in 1999 alongside the original farm dam which was established in 1958.

This luxury, 4 star TGCSA graded cottage sleeps six people in three bedrooms.

There is a lounge with fireplace and a dining room. The main bedroom has a double bed and the other two bedrooms each have two single beds. There are two bathrooms.

The cottage is fully equipped with stainless steel kitchenware, eiderdown duvets, electric blanket in the main bedroom, towels and soap, and wood for the hearth. Coffee and tea are supplied. The cottage is serviced once a day.

Jock's Cottage has an outside barbecue facility and covered parking.


Directions

On entering Dullstroom from Belfast, drive to the last stop street and turn left. Turn right into the next street after the Dullstroom Inn and follow the signs for the Dullstroom Dam. Follow the road - the tar will end and a gravel road will lead to the water works. Turn left at the signs for Jock's, Joe's and Janson Dam. Continue over the train line and collect the keys to the cottagesat the farm house on your left.
