Attractions

Hiking Trail

The Indabushe hiking trail is situated in the picturesque Schoemanskloof valley, less than 300km from Pretoria. The short ( 7km ) trail, stretches from the guesthouse at the foot of the mountain, passes ''klipkraal'' ruins through indigenous bush, offering magnificent views over the cultivated fields of the valley, as well as the Kwena dam.

The landscape consists of indigenous savanna vegetation, with a wide variety of other indigenous trees, birds and some small game. The interesting vegetation and fig trees at the krans are an attraction on their own. On top of the plateau one finds grassland with a patch of intruder black wattles, providing welcome shade for the tiring hiker.

The beautiful fountain on top of the plateau is an ideal place to stop for lunch. The trail was designed to give visiting guests and hikers the opportunity to explore the bio diversity of the area (River, bush and grassland plains). The difficulty rating is relatively easy (4.3 out of 10 on the SASREV SCALE).

The fact that there is a shorter option of only 4.5km will suit less experienced hikers perfectly, however , the full trail has enough to offer to make the trip from Gauteng worthwhile. Few hiking trails in the country have a guesthouse, braai area and pool of this standard to retire to after a long and tiring walk. The exceptional hospitality of the proud owners will make this break away a more than enjoyable experience; a hiking experience where one is pampered with top-notch service for a change.

Quad Trails

We are very proud of the Quad Trails that we offer.

They are designed for the Nature lover who does not want to walk and see, but ride and see. The trail leads through the most beautiful untouched areas with scenery that will be imprinted in your memory for days to come. The adrenaline rush that you get from testing your machine and your own abilities against nature is very satisfying.

All riders are given a crash course before their departure to assess their level of experience and to provide peace of mind for those who haven't done a nature trail before / or are newcomers to quad enthusiasm. The trail itself provides plenty of technical riding, although there is also enough time to relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

You will be led by one of your hosts and although you might be unsure of how to approach certain obstacles you will have the advice of an experienced rider at all times. Experienced riders are also invited to test and improve their technical riding skills.

Another annual event is our ''Boeresport Dag'' on which young and old, city slicker and ''Boertjie'' are invited to relive a part of our country's culture almost forgotten in our modern day living. Fun and games and good food are on the agenda. Almost forgotten games like pillow fight, one legged race (sakresies), sling shot, archery, tug of war and many more are played and enjoyed by young and old.

We also offer specially arranged days like this for corporate team building. The "Boeresport dag" is held annually on Heritage Day.

Bird watching

We also offer bird watching enthusiasts a truly memorable experience. A range of species almost too large to mention.
