It is a venue where you can relax and wake up in the mornings to the sounds of hummingbirds pecking at your window and nature going about it's daily routine. The more energetic may go hiking along the Elands River that runs through the property or try rock climbing against the sheer face of the cliffs surrounding the guesthouse and chalets. We offer twin and double en-suite rooms in the guest house, and five fully-equipped, self-catering suites and a cottage. 2 kilometres from the Waterval Boven Tunnel on the way to Waterval Onder Hamlet, we offer four open plan suites and a cottage. The cottage and suites are fully equipped, i.e. stove, fridge, cutlery, crockery, cooking and braai utensils, blankets, sheets, pillows, and towels. Meals can be enjoyed in the guest house if preferred. Accommodation Guesthouse We offer five comfortable en-suite bedrooms, with a choice of twin or double beds and either a bath or shower. The rooms are delightfully housed in spacious rondawels with thick stone walls, now beautifully renovated and incorporated into the main house. We cater for breakfast and dinner on request - our hearty farm breakfasts are especially popular. Should you prefer to eat out, Waterval Boven and Waterval Onder offer a number of excellent eateries just a few minutes' drive away. Leave the stress of the city behind when you relax in either our comfortable guests' living room or TV room. We offer a self-help honesty bar to make our guests feel at home, and in winter, there's usually a comforting fire in the lounge to warm you. Chalets We offer five open plan units and a two-bedroom cottage, all fully equipped with stove, fridge, microwave, cutlery, crockery, cooking and braai utensils, blankets, sheets, pillows and towels. All the chalets are equipped with a Multichoice decoder, bring your own DSTV card or decoder. There's a small communal swimming pool and meals may be enjoyed in the guest house if preferred. Suite 1 - Two-bed sleeper with a quaint coal stove for a warm and romantic atmosphere on those chilly nights. Suite 2 - Two beds and a double sleeper couch, our basic unit. Suite 3 - Cosy three-bed with a private enclosed braai area for relaxed evenings under the stars. Suite 4 - Luxury four-bed family unit (double bed and two sleeper couches) with a fireplace for those cold winter nights. Private braai facility on veranda. Suite 5 - Five-bed family unit (double bed and three sleeper couches). Private braai facility on veranda. The two-bedroom cottage sleeps seven guests. Main bedroom: En suite with double bed, second bedroom: Twin beds plus single sleeper couch. Lounge: Delightful antique studio couch that converts into double or twin beds. Theres also a second bathroom, veranda with braai facility, secluded open patio and mountain views to die for. Enjoy bird watching or challenging rock climbs up the majestic cliffs in close proximity to Luilekker. Take an energetic hike up the mountain on the estate or simply lounge around the pool, watching the mist roll in over the mountains while savouring the pristine country air and sipping a glass of pure, fresh water from our very own fountain. The Elands River Valley is one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa and Luilekker is centrally situated for scenic day trips to must-do destinations such as the Kruger National Park, Kaapschehoop (wild horses, breathtaking views and pancakes to die for); the famous Sudwala Caves, Sabie (waterfalls), Grasskop (experience God's Window) and seeped-in-history Pilgrim's Rest.
We're also very close to some of the ancient ruins that researchers are currently so excited about, as they are believed to be the oldest man-made structures on earth.
